Just came across this recently. It's an Irish-based initiative whereby you propose a project, along with an estimated money target, timeframe etc. People are encouraged to donate some amount of money (from as low as 5 quid or so, up to thousands) in exchange for "rewards", eg. fund the printing of a book or album, and offer as a reward free signed copies or whatever.
Rewards for higher donations are expected to be pretty special, and there are some downright weird reward offers out there. (But who doesn't love eccentricity, eh?) If you're looking to put a project together, but are struggling with it money-wise, it might be worth checking this out. Albums have been made, books and exhibitions launched, events funded, etc. Whatever you're into, it could probably be a runner here.
Some of the rewards on offer are well worth the donation, and apart from that, it's good to help others see their ideas come to life.
